- Emotional, physical, financial, sexual, or psychological abuse
- Significant safety concerns for one or both partners
- Active addiction that is substantially impacting the relationship

How do we best use the workbook?
We recommend either:
• printing two copies of the workbook (one for each partner), or
• opening the workbook on two separate devices so you can each follow along individually.
Many of the prompts are reflective, which means you may have different answers, thoughts, or emotional responses as you move through it. Having your own copy or device helps create space for both partners to feel seen, heard, and engaged in the process.
There’s no “right” pace. Some couples move through sections in one sitting, while others return to it over weeks or months. We encourage you to slow down, pause when needed, and focus on understanding each other rather than rushing to finish.
Do we need to complete it in one sitting?
Not at all. You can work through it at your own pace – whether that’s over a weekend or over several weeks.
Is this a replacement for therapy?
