What happens at therapy?


The journey through therapy can be one of enlightenment, awareness, closure and emotional growth. If it is to be effective there is a requirement of work and input from both the client and the therapist. It is helpful if you come to therapy with an open mind and a willingness to be involved in the process.

 

Often, being able to talk things through and to bring issues out in the open is enough to nurture a positive result and other times real emotional turmoil may be caused by unearthing events or talking through feelings, memories and attitudes. It is good to be aware before embarking on therapy that change may occur and it may affect all aspects of your life. You will be supported and guided by me but it is important to realise that this is your journey and it could be one that brings emotions to the surface that you will be required to notice and live with.

 

Whilst you should be aware of these factors, it is important to keep in mind that something brought you to be reading this page and if you are experiencing a time of discontent or distress then awareness around it is often a helpful and healthy option.
